That trick new exhaust system you just shelled out big bucks for sounds and looks the business, but it might have actually hurt the performance. But how? Factory fuel settings are designed to pass emissions restrictions in conditions ranging from sea level to high altitude, dry air to high humidity, and even different grades of gasoline.

Systems can range from very basic to extremely complex, and the prices reflect their functions.
