When it's time to talk about going fast on a nitrous powered Hayabusa, all ears turn to Guy Caputo of Tiger Racing. He's been land speed racing since 2002 and has set or "bumped" 17 records at the Maxton "Monster Mile" course. This includes the grand daddy of them all; the very impressive 228 mph pass he made in 2005. This record still stands today as the fastest nitrous powered, open wheel motorcycle record in the world.

The bike was built by owner/rider Guy Caputo and his cousin Mike Caputo at Tiger Racing in Toledo, Ohio. Starting with a set of 3mm over pistons from Wssner they bumped displacement up to 1397cc. Next on the list of engine mods was a Ward Performance head to keep the engine breathing well enough to make its 400 HP when the MPS nitrous is pumping.

To handle the huge amount of gasoline required to maintain a proper air/fuel ratio, he also fitted 62 pound injectors from MPS. Another important modification to this engine package was an ECU re-flash, because in stock form the ECU simply doesn't let the engine spin enough RPMs. Although he wouldn't specify the exact rev-limit, we suspect it's well north of 11 grand. That's pretty impressive for a bike that runs its races a mile at a time as opposed to the typical drag racer that only runs a quarter of that distance.

No expense was spared on this project and even the small details were addressed such as the fitment of ceramic wheel bearings to lower rolling resistance. For tires Caputo settled on Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa rubber and reports them to be stable at well over 200 mph. In case you had any doubts...

The bike is lowered front and rear and stretched to 72 inches via a Macintosh swingarm that also houses the rather large five pound nitrous bottle. Since Caputo's company makes motorcycle parts, he included some of his own items like a metal chain guard and bellypan. He also designed an aerodynamic front fender to help seal the important frontal area between the nose and the front wheel.

Not only does the menacing beast set land speed records, but it also looks like a custom show bike. Following in the footsteps of its showbike cousins, this Hayabusa isn't afraid to sport the bling, and it's found from front to back.

Mixing both good looks and insane speed, this street legal 'Busa's got serious bite.
