How long have you been stunt riding?
I've been destroying sportbikes for seven years strong.
How did you land the job to be the stunt double for Jim Carey?
Well, luckily for me my good buddy Chris "Teach" McNeil was originally going to do the stunts but ended up being like two feet too short, so he referred me for the job. I owe it all to him!
What was the hardest part about doing the movie stuff?
The pressure. You literally have three takes to get each scene right because of time constraints. And this isn't just some easy thing that you can go out and nail on your first try. There are so many variables you have to deal with. To them you're some superhero that can pull off anything on demand but that's not always the case. There were a few times I actually didn't think I was going to pull it off. Luckily, I was able to make some magic happen and get the job done.
What did Jim Carey think of the stunts?
He's actually a pretty good rider so he was pumped with all the stunts. After the burnout scene in front of the Griffith Park Observatory he walked up to me and said, "Wow, you really fucked this place up."
That was pretty much the highlight of my career.
Do you plan on doing more stunt riding for movies?
Hell yeah! I'm always down to donate my body for some cheap fame. It's actually a good feeling to finally put all these skills I've acquired to good use. Not to mention it got me out of a few traffic tickets on the way home from LA. Got to love Hollywood!
What annoys you the most about other riders?
Posers. I can't stand riders that go around telling companies that they're something they're not. We work our asses off to prove ourselves within this sport only to lose out to riders who flat out lie. It drives me crazy. Hopefully as the sport grows it will weed out all the riders who are dragging us down.
What are your goals for the next few years?
Aside from pursuing the movie gigs I'd love to one day see an X-Games medal hanging on my wall. I've been at this for a while now and the passion still burns as deep as ever. I'm hungrier than I've ever been.
